I must add information to my English spoken friends: in Swedish we have one and the same word for SKÅL = BOWL and SKÅL! = "To your health!"
The vikings used to send a bowl ( = skål ) of a beehoney fermented, strong alcohol brew around and thus the name "SKÅL".
