HORNET eats a HONEY BEE
In appr. one minute´s time a Hornet, Vespa crabro eats an Honey bee , Apis mellifera.
The Hornet is the worst enemy of the Honey bee and Mother Nature may seem cruel, but there is enough of Honey bees in one hive, to cover more than the needs of the Hornets, which are fairly rare these days.
It is mainly the honey stomach of the bee which is the target of the Hornet and the honey is an excellent energy feed for its own brood, back home in a hollow tree trunk or whereever she has her own society.
